You will only reach your full potential by adopting the perfect impact position as seen in these still photograph of top professional golfers, notice how the hips are practically facing the target area at impact and how the whole body is in the fully twisted condition as the club head moves through the contact area, this is because the hip movement is the major driving force during the down swing and the follow through movements.
To set up the correct down swing sequence the hips must be forcibly made to rotate towards the target area - slight before the back swing is completed
** Importantly, the upper body triangle that is formed at the address position which is achieved by keeping the elbows as closely together as is possible at all times.

In order to make a correct down swing movement it is absolutely vital that back swing is performed correctly in the first place, therefore the upper body must be held firmly together so that it is the rotation of the upper body unit that moves the club head away from the ball whilst held firmly as a one piece unit, rather than allowing the club head to be moved by simply lifting the arms.
The down swing is a very simple action as long as the hips and the twisted body move as a single unit - the hips are forced to turn towards the target area before the upper body is allowed to move and from that point on the whole twisted body is forced to rotate around the central core of the spine to position the body in the impact position - and as the club head strikes the ball the arms are forced to interact thus accelerarting the club head through the contact area,, but importantly the hands must not go past the original address position until the club head strikes the ball and at that exact moment the hips continue to force the whole body to fully face the target area.

Down Swing Sequence.
During the back swing movement the upper body unit have been rotated as far as it is physically possible thus forcing the hips to follow.
However as the upper body approaches the end of the back swing movement the hips must be forced to rotate towards the target area movement before the upper body is allowed to follow, thus creating a slight delay before the upper body is literallly forced to rotate into the down swing movement and at that point the hips and the upper body rotate in tandem.
*** The down swing movement is a combination of deliberate delayed actions.***
As long as the whole body is held in the fully twisted condition it achieved at the end of the back swing movement, the rotational action of the hips during the down swing movement will ensure that the hips are practically facing the target area as the club head strikes the ball.
Very Important.
Basically the down swing is all about activating the turning action of the hips for a mill-second before the complete body unit is forced to rotate into the down swing movement and thus rotate around the axis of the spine, whilst held as a one piece unit -- and once the hips have assumed control over the movement of the upper body unit, the whole body moves as a single unit whilst the left arm remains close to the right shoulder.
It is important that the hip movement must always lead the rotational movement of the whole twisted upper body unit throughout the down swing and the follow through movement, but importantly the hands must not go past the original address position until the club head strikes the ball and at that exact moment the whole body turns as a one piece unit to fully face the target area.
If you are unable to fully rotate the hips during the down swing movement, address the ball with an open stance which will assist is you getting the hips fully turned before the ball is struck.
As the down swing is performed you must be aware of the position of your hands so that as the club head get near to the impact position the hands are basically held back back from passing the original address position, (albiet for only a millisecond), until the club head strikes the ball, and at that precise point the whole body pivots on the left leg and turns to fully face the target area at the same speed the club head is going through the contact area.
In the mean time as soon as the club head strikes the ball the arms are forced to interact ( right arm forced into the fully straightened position.
But importantly, the down swing is performed at a ridiculously slow pace whilst the club head is whipped into the contact area, but importantly, the eyes must be focused on the back of the golf ball from the moment you begin the golf swing right through unto the precise moment the club head makes contact with the ball.( Just watch the professionals on the TV - Collin Moracowa is a classic example.)

Most Handicapped Golfers believe that simply swinging the arms to hit the ball is the correct way to play golf, and that is why they remain high handicapped golfers, yes the arms are used to hit the ball, but only whilst the arms remain part of the compact upper body unit and only move independently of this unit when they area forced to interact, the prime driver of the golf swing in the rotational movement of the hips, but in order to play very good golf you must ensure that you watch the clubhead actually strike the ball.

Very low handicapped golfers perform the down swing movement with the magic move .
As you perform the magic move, the right elbow is drawn into the waist line and simultaneously the hips begin to rotate and turn to face the target area .
**Important **
At the precise moment the club head strikes the ball, the hips continue to turn to fully face the target area at the same speed the club head is moving towards the target area.
During the down swing movement the hip action is the controlling factor, and the more separation you can achieve between the rotational movement of the hips before the whole twisted body unit follows, the better whilst holding the left arm close to the right shoulder.and after the club head has struck the ball and the interaction of the arms is completed, the arms must follow the flight of the ball for as long as possible.
This action enables professional golfers to hit the ball exactly as they wish, a draw, a fade or a straight shot depending on the set up at the address position, the thrust of the right shoulder delivers the club head into the back of the ball with the all important power.
The golf swing that I teach in this web site is based on my experience of learning to play golf from being a hacker to a reasonable golfer and during this period I have learnt how to play much better golf and I pass this information to you.
The basic golf swing is a very simple process which becomes progressively more difficult as you try to hit the ball further but I only wish that I had learnt the correct way to play golf 40 years ago -- but this is your chance to jump that time gap.
**Go to the practice area and continually rotate the hips towards the target area whilst the upper body remains in a totally passive condition and then progress to holding a golf club whilst keeping the upper body unit in a totally passive condition. **

Unfortunately most golfers who read this web site will dismiss my analysis of the golf swing without a second thought because I am not a "celebrity golf coach" -- therefore it is only the golfer who is prepared to have an open mind about my teachings and go to the golf range to practice my instructions -- these are the golfers that will prosper.

Just remember, the golf swing that I as described
in this web site has exactly the same principle movements that
allow the majority of the professional golfers to play the game
at the top of their profession. So if you have an open mind on how the golf

swing I teach is an accurate reflection on the way the professionals
golfer play the game, but describing the important factors that
will enable you to hit the ball long and straight, then you
will already be on the road to achieving a very good golf swing.
As a point of interest you often hear top golf instructors say that that a golfer should only have one or two swing thoughts
as they prepare to make a golf swing -- in reality this
only applies to a golfer who has already developed a well structured
golf swing.
Therefore if you want to reach the stage of having a well
structured golf swing it is vital that you learn the basic principles
and the basic movements of the golf swing and practice these
