Basic Steps to Perfect Golf.

I am 67 years old, retired and living "the good life" in the Dominican Republic. Only in the past two years have I taken up golf, and only in recent months have I gained the confidence to actually play.

My problem heretofore had been understanding the "release". Of course, I read as much as I can on the subject, discuss it with friends (not too many have any interest in dwelling on intricate fundamentals of the swing), and attempt to practice it in my backyard, and at the driving range. But not until reading your blog on the subject, have I BEGUN to understand what is necessary to create a near-perfect release.

Recognizing, of course, that many others have been similarly lucky to read your writing, but perhaps had not the time to thank you, I now do this for "who knows" how many thousands of eager golf amateurs!

All I can say is "WOW!". With all the mis-information on what is perceived as the golf swing, you actually know the dynamics of the swing and are able to describe it in clear text.

Before reading your free (I can't believe it's free) information on your web-site, golf frustrated me (this is my 3rd year). I always considered myself athletic and have always been able to excel in most sports...except golf.

After 1 week of practice, I went from a 55 to a 47 on the front 9 (too dark yet to play all 18)!

Simply amazing. No one has ever instructed me about the reverse hip movement, body center turn, holding the arms close together or the most important for me, relaxation of the arm muscles (I call it spaghetti arms (cooked of course!).

The reverse hip movement while keeping my arm muscles completely relaxed during the down-swing seems to load my cocked wrist. I know you don't like to talk about distance, but the first time I hit my 8 iron 150 yards and then kept hitting it 150 yards, I had to double check my club....yup, it's an 8 iron. People were actually stopping and watching me hit the ball. My chipping and putting has also dramatically improved (the most important part of the game). I only 3-putted one time and I am consistently dropping 6-footers thanks to your 45-degree arms tucked against your body.

It's so simple, but very effective. I can't thank you enough.
