Practice the following movement before actually making a full
golf swing movement :-
Adopt the normal address position, hold the elbows as close
together as is physically possible.
Whilst keeping the elbows held as close together as is physically
possible thus keeping the arms fully extended, use the muscles of
the left shoulder and the left upper arm to literally push the arms
into a half back swing movement whilst the shoulders rotate around
the central core of the spine.
As the shoulders get near to the end of the back swing movement,
press down with the left foot and simultaneously rotate/pivot/sway
the hips towards the target area.
Keep the shoulders and the arms firmly held together as a very
compact unit and allow the hips movement to force the shoulder/arms-unit
to begin to rotate into the down swing movement.
Therefore to generate a high speed of the arms, rotate
the shoulders very quickly for the first half of the down swing
movement in order to build up the torsion of the muscles of the
upper body, but as the shoulders get very close to the original
address position, slow down the movement thus allowing the energy
of the torsioned muscles to be released, but judge the movement
so that the club head makes contact with an imaginary ball at the
precise moment the shoulders return to the original address position.
However as soon as the shoulder return to the original address
position, stop the shoulders rotating whilst the passive arms continue
to swing through the contact area - but do not try to assist in
the movement of the arms - simply try to accelerate the passive
arms as much as possible before you are forced to stop the shoulders
rotating and then as soon as the both arms are straight resume the
rotation of the shoulder to the completion of the golf swing movement.
Therefore simply concentrate on holding the elbows close together
as the club head moves into and through the contact area, keep the
head slightly behind the ball and as soon as the shoulders return
to the original address position, stop them from rotating whilst
the passive arms interact, thus performing the Key Movement.
Therefore try to judge the movement so that the passive arms
interact thus swinging the club head into and through the contact
area whilst the compact shoulder/arms-unit is held square to the
target line.-- This is exactly how the full golf swing is performed.
Simply keep rotating the shoulders back and forth to create
the swing action of the arms.
Practice on the Range.
You may wonder why you play such good shots at the driving range,
but when you play on the golf course you cannot repeat the good
shots consistently.
Well the main reason is that when you are on the range, you
are totally focused on the mechanical action of the golf swing whilst
the direction that the ball goes is not that important.
Therefore when you play on the golf course, set yourself up
to make a golf swing and put aside any thoughts of where the ball
will go, trust your set up and the mechanical action of the golf
swing that you practised on the golf range and simply perform the
golf swing.
By eliminating any thoughts of where the ball will
go, it will allow you to fully concentrate on simply performing
the mechanical actions of the golf swing.
If you wish to play very good golf, you must fully
concentrate on performing the actual golf swing movement.
