Golf Instructors.
(Changed - 16/01/2011)
Most golf instructors are basically very good naturally talented
golfers who have played the game since they were very young.
However, because of this natural ability I believe that they
fail to understand that most golfers do not have this natural ability
and have to learn the basic principles of the golf swing.
For example, they did not need to be taught to to watch
the ball with intensity until the precise moment the club head strikes
the ball -- they did not have to be taught to use the power of the
hips to lead the rotational movement of the compact upper body unit
during the down swing movement -- they did not need to be taught
to keep the head behind
the ball position until well after the ball has been struck, and
so on.
Naturally talented golfers do most of these things automatically
and therefore assume that all golfers perform the golf swing in
a similar manner and this is why many of the points that I make
within my website will never be considered by these golf instructors.
This is where my website is different, I began playing at a
late stage and for many years I struggled with my game, but eventually
I identified certain aspects of the golf swing that has dramatically
improved the quality of my game, such as the things mentioned above.
Of all the things that I have learnt to develop, using the left
shoulder as a controlling element of the upper body unit during
the back swing and the right shoulder as a controlling element during
the down swing movement, keeping the head
firmly held in the original address position and in the Fixed
Frontal condition until well after the ball has been struck
has been very effective, but most of all it is by teaching myself
to watch
the ball until the precise
moment the club head makes contact and not allowing the right
heel to lift off the ground until the club head strikes the ball
which has had the most dramatically effect.
As I said, these are just a few items that are never mentioned
by these golf instructors, but I can assure you that if you can
learn to perform these basic principles the quality of your shots
will improve dramatically.
.
These are aspects of the golf swing that these naturally talented
golfers do automatically but once you are made aware of these basic
principles, you can also acquire these skills.
A point to ponder?
Do these top instructors give advice to their
students on watching the ball?
If you asked every golfer of the world if they
watched the ball during the down swing movement, every one would
say yes.
However although all golfers watch
the ball during the down swing movement, the better class golfers
watch the golf ball almost until the club head makes contact with
the ball, but they also focus on the back edge of the golf ball.
The top professional and top amateur golfers actually see the
physical contact between the club head and the ball with nearly
every shot, whilst also focusing on a more defined area of the back
edge of the golf ball.
The very best golfer, i.e. Tiger Woods only very rarely fails
to actually see the physical contact between the club head and the
ball, whilst focusing on a definite point on the back edge of the
golf ball.
So my analysis is that the longer you are able to maintain your
focus on the back edge of the golf ball as the down swing movement
is performed and actually see the physical contact between the club
head and the golf ball, the better golfer you will become.
