Forearms. - Master - (Changed -10/04/2008)

Most golfers force the forearms to rotate in a clockwise motion during the back swing movement.( Another description is that the golfer allows the hands to twist in a clockwise motion as the back swing is performed.) However simply by trial and error I have found that by totally resisting the forearms during the back swing movement it forces you to keep the left hand square to the ball position until the right arm is forced to fold thus automatically causing the forearms to rotate

During the back swing movement the left shoulder forces the shoulder/arms-unit to rotate around the central core of the spine thus pushing the passive arms to the end of the back swing movement, but this action distorts the original shape of the upper body unit.

Therefore at the end of the back swing movement the arms will be slightly across the front of the chest, thus causing the right arm to fold, but importantly, as the right arm folds, the forearms automatically rotate in a clockwise motion -- therefore at no point in the back swing movement should the forearms be consciously rotated.

Similarly, as the shoulder rotate back to the original address position, the right arm gradually returns to the position of being slightly bent which automatically rotates the forearms in an anti-clockwise motion and thereby returning the club face to the original address position - therefore d you do not need to consciously rotate the forearms during the down swing movement .

However as you perform the down swing movement, it is vital that you try to keep the right arm in the fully bent condition for as long as possible so that the rotation of the forearms is delayed until the precise moment you begin to flail the club head into the contact area.

However it is absolutely vital that you hold the shoulder/arms-unit firmly togther as a very compact unit throughout the complate golf swing movement, thus retricting the rotational movement of the forearms.
