Forearms.
(Changed -
21/03/2010)
Most golfers force the forearms to rotate too far in a clockwise
motion during the back swing movement.
As the compact upper body unit rotates into the back swing movement,
if you are using a short iron the hands should move diagonally across
the right foot which encourages a rotational movement of the forearms
Similarly, as the hips force the compact upper body unit to
rotate into the down swing movement, the arms must follow a reverse
swing path and automatically rotate the forearms in an anti-clockwise
motion and thereby returning the club face to the original address
position of being square to the target line - therefore you do not
need to consciously rotate the forearms during the down swing movement
.
However as you perform the down swing movement, it is vital
that you try to keep the right arm in the fully bent condition for
as long as possible so that the reversal of the rotation of the
forearms is delayed until the precise moment you begin to force
the right arm into the fully straightened position.
Therefore it is absolutely vital that you hold the elbows as
close together as is physically possible and hold the biceps of
both arm firmly against the chest cavity in order to maintain a
very compact unit throughout the complete golf swing movement.
