Left side of the body in control - Master - (Changed - 17/12/2008)

In order to have complete control during the back swing movement it is absolutely vital that you focus on the left shoulder/left arm to literally push the passive right arm/golf club to the end of the back swing movement.

During the down swing movement, although a combination of the hips movement and the muscles of the lower back rotate the shoulders rotate into the down swing movement, you must continue to focus on the left shoulder/left arm to literally pull the passive right arm/golf club into and through the contact area so that the combined energy of the rotational movement of the shoulders and the left shoulder/left arm will allow you to achieve the maximum velocity of the club head as it swings into the contact area.

Therefore you must focus on the left shoulder/left arm as being in control throughout the complete golf swing movement, especially at the impact position.

LOWER BODY

A similar rule applies to the lower part of the body, because during the down swing movement it is the left leg and the left thigh that initiates the down swing movement and causes the hips to rotate/pivot towards the target area.
