Hand Action.
- ( Changed - 16/12/2008)
The hands are used simply to hold the golf club and not to apply
power into the golf swing - Power is applied to the golf shot by
the correct use of the movement of the hips, the lower back muscles,
and the correct use of the shoulder muscles.
Therefore one of the major keys to playing very good golf is
to ensure that the hands remain in a passive condition throughout
the complete golf swing movement, but importantly, you must ensure
that the hands do not
return to the original address position until the precise moment
the club head makes contact with the ball.
To encourage this passive condition of the hands it is vital
that the elbows remain
held as close together as it is physically possible -- whilst
the golf club is held with a light grip with both hands.
