Impact position -
Master - (Changed - 05/09/2008)
As you perform the down swing movement
you must totally focus on ensuring that the club head makes contact
with the ball whilst the shoulders are parallel to the target line.
At the point when the shoulders return
to the original address position, the shoulder must be held in this
position, albeit for only a nanosecond whilst the muscles of the
left shoulder pull the passive arms into the contact area thus counteracting
the inertia effect upon the arms, and then whilst the shoulders
remain parallel to the target line, the muscles of the left shoulder
pull the passive arms through the contact area, thereby forcing
the right arm to adopt
the fully straightened position, actions that inject power and accuracy
into the shot.
As soon as the both arms are straight
the right shoulder
must be forced to rotate under the chin.
You will note that I say "you
must totally focus on the precise moment the club head returns to
the ball"-- What I am trying to impress on you is that the
club head must be swung into and through the contact area in a smooth
seamless manner without any attempt to "HIT" the ball
-- you must not focus on striking the ball,
you must focus on swinging the club head to the bottom
of the swing arc.
Impact Position.
Up
to this point, the club head has been returned to this
position by using an aggressive of the movement of the hips
which forced the compact upper body unit to rotate around the central
core of the spine thus automatically returning the shoulders back
to the original address position, plus the pulling action of the
left shoulder muscles which counteracted the inertia
effect upon the arm.
However at the precise moment the shoulders
return to the original address position, you must ensure
that:-
1) The upper body remains slightly tilted to the right, with
the left shoulder slightly higher than the right shoulder.
2) The shoulders must continue to be held parallel
to the target line,
3) The head must
be held in a position so that the left eye is slightly behind the
ball.
4) The hands
in the original address position.
( The hands must not be either ahead of the original address position
or behind the original address at the precise moment the club head
returns to the golf ball, they must be in exactly the original address
position.)
5) The upper
body unit remain tightly held together as a very compact unit.
6) The weight of the body is predominantly over the left
leg.
7) The muscles of the left shoulder continue to pull the passive
arms through the contact area, thus forcing the right arm to adopt
the fully straightened position.
However as soon as the both arms are straight, the right
shoulder must rotate under the chin whilst the whole body pivots
on the left leg and turns to face the target area.
Therefore it is absolutely vital that the head
is held so that the left eye remains slightly behind the ball, the
head is held in the Fixed
Frontal condition, and also the upper
body angles are maintained -- until both arms are straight.
